Munising is fortunate to have the Natural Resources and vast opportunities on the ample production of horticultural poduces. In spite of such abundance the village women are groping under poverty due to lack of proper initiations and innovative approaches towards the effective utilization of the resources. In due course of time, with the intervention of CCD the tribal women became aware on the utilization of the existing resources in a proper way and habituated in attending meetings and trainings.
Secondly, the tribal women have been facing a great problem in marketing their products at a desired profit. For their qualitative products produced by them they are not getting the fair price according to the quality. In later stage by becoming more aware of the problems faced by them they have come forward to solve the problem by their combined effort. It being a common problem they tried to find out its solution with the initiation of the staff of CCD. Hence, to lead the groups in the path of progress due importance is being given on the development of entrepreneurship. Out of the goods produced by themselves the production of turmeric is larger in quantity. Hence, the members of the group as a whole decided to establish a grinding mill for processing of turmeric powder in order to sell it at a fair price through developing the packing which will add their value. By collecting the turmeric during the period of harvesting they were getting very low income previously. Now they have taken the initiation to sell it through the value addition process. Case Study 1
The members of the SHG Group of Jollang Bhave taken a piece of land of about 0.50 cents for cultivation by paying an amount of Rs.10000/- on a lease basis. As per the version of the president and the secretary of the said group they took it for cultivation on an experimental basis to see whether it will yield gain or lose to them by doing this in a joint effort. At present they cannot get the clear picture of it whether, it will accrue profit to them or not. If they will get something as their own profit then to what extent or by how much after the repayment of their debt.
However, with the assistance of the male group they are sure that they will get their desired profit. They have also been assured by them in cultivation and constructing the temporary boundaries around the land in order to protect the crops or corns from the out side damage. Now the land is remained unutilized for about a period of 3 months. It had earlier been planned to do the fruit cultivation in it but in vain.
At present all have shown their keen interest to raise paddy in it. After this they will again use it for the cultivation of vegetables. They will see whether it will accrue profit to them. If it is positive in their concept they will take it to use for cultivation for a period of further 3 years more....
IV . Unity is our strength
Partada GP is coming under the Kasinagar block of Gajapati district. Expect Partad, all the villages are situated in the hill top and tribal populated. Govt. has opened primary schools and EGS centers in the GP. Irregularity of the teachers in the villages became a major problem. children were seen in the workplace instead of school. Villagers asked the teachers, threatened the teachers, informed the higher officials but the situation was same. During the federation meeting at u.partada the matter was discussed. The villagers decided to meet the collector. On 19/08/2006 the delegates from 17 villages met collector in his grievance cell and raised the above issues. The district collector formed a committee cons isting of (D.I of schools , S.I of school, Kharada circle, BRCC Kasinagar and CRCC of Partada G.P) .As per the order of collector the committee visited T.Joduru, Endary, Linga , Adasingi, T.Gorba and Partada primary schools . The concerned VEC and villagers placed their allegations before the committee. After their verification the committee submitted the report to the collector. The district collector has taken action against the teachers who were found guilty. The teachers are now going to the school. The community has understood the concept of unity and solidarity. We are relieved from a great drudgery After having a drinking water facility, in the Singjanglo village, the women folk expressed their feeling from the core of their heart that
Singjanglo is a hill top village in Tarangada Panchayat of Gumma Block. People, especially women, use to come down around 2 kms to fetch the drinking water. Even pregnant women also go for drinking water to such a long distance. They use to spend around 3 4 hours in a day to fetch 40 ltrs of drinking water. They use to take bath once in a two day or three days. Not washing their cloths even once in a month. By this, great drudgery, they suffer miserably and use to become seek on and often
The community has identified a perennial water source on the hill top and requested CCD to sanction the gravitational pipe under the mini project. After analyzing the situation thoroughly, CCD sanctioned Rs. 1,00,000/- for the construction of gravitational flow in 2003. The work was successfully completed with total community participation and the drinking water is now at the door step of the village. Now people are getting 24 hours water supply.
With one time investment of one lakh, the total 38 women use to save 114 hours of valuable time per day and 41610 hours time in a year. The women use to utilize this valuable time for productive work in their agriculture field and care and management of small ruminants and taking care of their children.
With the excess of water, they are cultivating vegetables and doing banana plantation. Frequent seek ness among the community has been reduced to a greater extent. Now village looks healthy and clean more... |
