Fruit of the development comes out of continuous effort with self interest.

The members of the women group of the village by name Ukarsing have been working diligently for the upliftment of the group striving more to strengthen the economic base in order to stand on their own feet maintaining the economic solidarity and good working spirit. The group had been formed initially by involving the 10 members. Besides this there was also the other group which had been formed in the same village and functioning with the support of the DWCRA scheme. Hence there was a competition between these two groups. The DWCRA supported group had been flourishing with the assistance of an amount of Rs.15000/- towards the development of the group. They were moving towards the progress with the support of DWACRA with a great enthusim and spirit but with the passage of time they incurred loss in their business and their functioning of activities came to a stand still. But the group promoted with the initiation of CCD has been moving towards progress with a proper initiation and collective efforts and maintaining the harmony among the members of the group under the dynamic leader named Mammi Gomango, who could lead the group effectively promoting the economic solidarity and better working spirit among the members. One of the greatest achievement that has been made with the help of her able leadership qualities is the effective and active participation in the self governing process viz: taking active participation in the village SHG meetings, Pallisabhas and Gramasabhas conducted at village level and panchayat level. As such they are moving towards the bright side of life dispelling the darkness. New awakening is coming to their mind. Now they have well aware of their rights and duties and the provision of reservation of seats in Panchayat Raj Institutions. They can take part in the formation of the grass root level Government by taking part in the elections held for the Sarpanchas, Naib Sarpanchas, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Ward members etc. After becoming well aware of the Right to Information the said leader who was working as a animator in CCD could take the initiation of uplifting the tribal women getting realized the importance of adequate information in the developmental perspectives. Taking genuine interest in the self governing process she could able to be the Ward member of the said village. Thereafter she did not remain silent. Her silent revolution was continuing. As a result of which her continuous effort and the spirit of developmental attitude paved the way of becoming the Samiti Member. It became possible only through the conduction of village meetings and awareness building on the Right to Information and her self interest combined with self realization. After an effective mobilization the members of the women groups are following her foot prints and striving more to improve in their way of life through effective participation in Pallisabhas, Gramasabhas and SHG meetings. By this way they are able to mobilize the Government funds for the development of their groups, initiating the income generation activities revolving the funds properly thus raising their purchasing power to lead a better life.

Case Study 3

Innovation comes out of curiosity

The story is about the initiative on the effective intervention of the INHP activities facilitating the need based services related to the community health in such a way that the fruits of the development reaches the un-reached. To materialize the dream of ensuring the better health related practices to the beneficiaries the Santimayee Mahila Mandali of Mondolosahi have come forward to play a major role in ensuring the better health practices thus promoting their health status.

To achieve the objectives of INHP they have decentralized their roles in a planned manner. For the proper execution of the works related to Nutrition & Health Day they have been divided into 3 parts to extend the cooperation for performing immunization work, distribution of THR and Health Check up work. As a result of which 90% of the beneficiaries are being covered under immunization. The greatest responsibility taken by them is ensuring the immunization to all the beneficiaries on a fixed health day. Effort has been continuing from the members of the group to facilitate the presence of all most all the beneficiaries from the different corners of the remote area and special attention is being paid to ensure the immunization in inaccessible points through an effective liaisoning with the existing medical officers. Though the PHC is being suffered from the inadequacy of staff support yet they have been mobilized to extend their support in order to offer their service for the proper coverage of immunization work. Thus ensuring the better health practices at their door step. Besides this initiation has also been taken for raising the community health fund among the women groups in order to witness the unforeseen situation faced by the women group. The kind of support extended to them are in the form of advancing loans from the community health fund with out any interest. As a result of which the needy women are utilizing the amount obtained from the fund properly. For example for meeting the expenses required for purchasing medicines for fever, institutional delivery and to meet the transportation cost required for the process of delivery. The internal loans taken by them are being repaid within a period of 6 months as per the rules prescribed therein.

Case Study 4

Rights on House Pattas - availed

The story reveals how the people of Pottaro situated in the hilly regions of Rayagada Block have been successful in procuring the house pattas after having acknowledged about the land pattas and house pattas through the prolonged interaction with the CCD representatives. A vast majority of the people living the said village have been facing the problem of procuring the pattas in support of their legitimate claim.

The representatives of CCD detected this problem through conducting the village meetings, and paying intensive visits to the area making interaction with them on the issue based problem. Thereafter suggested to take the proper initiation regarding this from their side. As a result of which in due course of time the people of the said village tried to take the decision about this in summoning the Pallisabha where they got reflected the problem of procuring the house pattas after making a list of the non possession of pattas by the people as per the decision taken in the pallisabha. The people of the village as a whole could move towards the office of the Tahasildar filing the process - applications for the issuance of pattas. Accordingly the Tahasildar has given the direction to the R.I. concerned for the verification of the application filed and after getting the positive response from R.I. the pattas were issued to the 17 beneficiaries.

Case Study 5

Collective decision - an outcome of collective effort

The members of the women group of Jollango of Rayagada Block are forging ahead. Effective motivation, continuous interaction with the group and regular follow up of these made the group realize their unity and integrity in strengthening their economic base thus facilitating the process to sustain their group for a longer period in order to prove themselves worthy of others expectations. As such they came forward to form a federation of their own to achieve many more things. Various developmental packages provided by the Government in the form of various schemes were not being reached at their door step. Realizing the gravity of the situation the representatives of CCD took the proper initiation on making them aware of the right to information and later on this particular effective weapon worked for the betterment of the women. They took it as a power and realized that how it served as a power after enjoying the fruit of its development.

With the passage of time they became well aware of their health condition, education and the importance of saving developing the attitude of thrift in them through attending the SHG meetings regularly conducted at village level. A lady by name Santoshi Soboro became able to participate in the three tire system of Panchayat Raj and could become the ward member of that village. It is because of the effective awareness on the rights and duties of the citizens followed by the rights and duties of PRI members and the process of taking part in the self-governing process as well as in the three tire system of Panchayat Raj which forms the Government at the grass root level through conducting the workshop on PRI with the initiation of CCD. As a result of which the other members of the group came to know about the reservation of seats for ladies in the three tire system of the Panchayat Raj. This became possible only through t he federation of the women SHGs and attending the workshop on PRI. By this way gradually, the federation members after becoming well aware of their rights, duties and getting adequate information's could choose their representatives from their group knowing their efficiency. Ms. Santoshi Soboro is one of the brilliant example who could become the Naib Sarpanch of the said village.

This gives us testimony that how a tribal women came forward to become the PRI member with the staunch support of the federation members formed by themselve
