Drinking water Problem takes the edge off …………..
Long back, there was a tube-well in Ongarada- one of the tribal villages coming under Khorsanda GP of Paralakhemundi (Gosani) Block of Gajapati District. It is very interesting that the water from the tube-well was bubbling up automatically due to the capillary force from the ground level. In the village, there is no other source of water except the tube-well, which was being used for drinking and cooking purpose. But the water of the tube-well was not so safe rather contaminated with iron and zinc smell, which often causes for normal and abnormal-water borne diseases.
CCD took the matter as a great concern, decided to design the water resource base and constructed a water reservoir storing the water in the tank. The water tank is connected with two taps and a platform at the beneath of the tank for bathing purpose with appropriate use and management of water. The surplus water of the tank is being connected with the corn fields. The water stored in the tank, purified lagging behind the sediments in the bottom of the tank and utilized for drinking and cooking purpose. Now there are no health hazards in the village. Simultaneously, the people are utilizing the surplus water flow for growing up the vegetable and the seasonal paddy crops with effective management of water. The long standing problems of the people are solved now elevating the ways for all purposes. “We are very thankful to CCD for its noble efforts in mitigating our problems opening the vistas for safe drinking water facilities and now we have realized the value of water - elixir of life. “ A Quote from the villagers”.

Apart from this, the community was also not aware about mutation cases, land rights, encroachment rights, partition rights, OLR Act, Regulation Act and the 17- point program of the land etc., In times of collection of the revenue taxes, the RI concern of the circle was used to exploit the innocent people imposing the exactions from the people, which were noticed while reviewing receipts issued by the authorities.
