Women Empowerment

Having the major thrust area of women empowerment, CCD is capacitating the women community providing socio-economic opportunities binding them in a common platform promoting Self Help Groups and Cooperatives ensuring their participation in all developmental sectors like Palli Sabha/Gram Sabhas in decision making process, ensuring Equal Wages, taking up micro entrepreneurship, value addition initiatives and other seasonal business providing financial support through bank linkages exposing their personality for leadership development with rightful share and concern validating the gender equity.click here to view details

Gajapathi Women Self-Help Co-Operative Ltd

Gajapati Women Self Help Cooperative Ltd./MFI was promoted by CCD in the year 2003. During the reporting year, 2 branches have been opened in Mandalasahi and Gumma of Rayagada and Gumma Blocks to cater the credit needs of the women of the area/ target groups.click here to view details

Community Health

Programmes :

1. 1 health camp was organized for 102 community members. Hygienic practice, common diseases, malaria prevention and the accessibility of health delivery system was imparted during the camp to ensure best health practices. 23 TB patients were identified and undergone treatment. 53 persons referred to district hospital out of which 32 are children

2. 79 cutural shows were conducted during the reporting year to imbibe the knowledge on health awareness and sanitation, HIV/AIDS, RCH components,INHP, Ante/ Pre/ Post-Natal Care, better nutrition in mother and child health care.

3.A network partner's meet of White Ribbon Alliance Orissa, District Chapter-Gajapati, was organized at Paralakhemundi to organize health awareness campaign in Gajapati.

4. Regular immunization camps were organized in support and cooperation of ANM, AWWs and health personnel in almost all its operational areas including Pulse Polio program, ensuring participation of mothers in NHDs.

5. The trained TBAs are acting as major health facilitators and helping the community in accessing the health service packages in its operational areas. 71 safe deliveries made by Trained TBAs effectively.

 
Empowerment of Persons with Disability

Programmes :

1. Promoted 65 SHG of PWDs involving 698 beneficiaries and merging them into common platform in MILAN Disable Network accessing the benefits of medical certification, facilitating to provide the aids and appliances, liaisoning with resource agencies like SWABHIMAAN and SABALA Bhubaneswar

2. During the year 2 awareness camps were conducted for 218 beneficiaries including the staff and family members inducing the concept on the PWD Act 1995, inclusive education, social integrity, gender equity and on different social development schemes of the government.

3. 9 Inter group MILAN network meetings and 3 Monthly meetings were organized at the resource training centre of CCD during the year with the total participation of 532 beneficiaries and family members basically discussing on effective micro credit programme, utilization of money in profitable trades, rapport building with resource agencies, accessing the benefits from social security schemes, and active participation in palli sabha and gram sabha etc.

4.25 disabled persons were supported under different micro-credit packages @ Rs.10,000/- to each individual for the economic development like grocery shop, tailoring, book vending, boffollow rearing, pan shop etc and the amount has been revolved to benefit other members of the group.

5. Training on the concept of SHG - savings, thrift and credit management, roles, and responsibilities and on the meeting formalities was imparted to 35 beneficiaries including family members.

6.3 staff trainings were organized for 117 CBR staff and the volunteers working at the grass-root level for the mobilization of the community infusing in their mind the concept of the socio-economic empowerment of the disabled .

7.Two days exposure visit was made to the filed of ARUSHI, Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh for 9 members including 4 beneficiaries for better understanding of inclusive education. This exposure has generated motivation, innovation and strengthened the commitment among the team members

8. International Disable Day was celebrated by CCD involving 257 beneficiaries inviting President, Zilla Parishad, Gajapati and Superintendent of Police, Gajapati. A massive rally was organized. A Public meeting was organized and a quantum of Rs. 2,50,000/- dirstributed to the beneficiaries.

9, Rs. 30,000/- provided as Matching Grant to the SHGs of PWDs namely Douda DRG of Markoda, Krishna DRG of Ondrada, Swabhiman of Lalusahi and Sardapur villages for income generation activities.

10 World Mental Health Week was organized by District Legal Services Authorities, Gajapati in Facilitation of CCD to create general awareness on different legal provisions meant for protection of Differentially Challenged who are suffering from socital biasness. 120 persons including 64 Physical and mentally challenged persons participaed in the program. Sub-Judge, Superintendent of Police, Gajapati, Sub-Collector, Paralakhemundi, Doctors and lawyers participated as resource persons and imparted on different constitutional rights and Acts.

 
Gajapathi Women Self-Help Co-Operative Ltd

Programmes

1. Mini water management project was taken-up in Barba village of Gumma Block. A length of 1350 meters pipe with an reservoir was constructed in the village to access the drinking water through gravitational flow. An amount of Rs. 1,90,400/- including Rs. 85,000/- community contribution.

2. Another Mini water management project was taken-up in Tohojung Village of Gumma Block for drinking water through gravitational flow. An amount of Rs. 3,65,400/- including Rs. 2,00,000/- community contribution.

3. Another project were taken-up in Kumbrising village of Gumma Block for 395 meter irrigation canal for agriculture purpose. An amount of Rs. 1,25,000/- including Rs. 75,000/- community contribution.

4. Rs. 1,00,000/- provided to 7 Self Help Groups including 3 dalit groups, in Anukundaguda, U.Tamosing, U.Burudi, Kurlanda and Padmapur villages for promoting group based activities for rearing of small ruminents and seasonal business.

5. Participatory Technology Development (PTD) - the proven technology was well implemented in order to increase the productivity as well as enhance the skills of master farmers in Kurlandaguda and Chandangiri villages of Gumma Block.

6 .20 Community Link Workers (CLWs) are effectively working for the care and management of small ruminents and livestocks in the inaccessible hilly areas. This year 2700 poultry birds vaccinated in 12 villages. They are also doing de-worming vaccinations among small ruminants and treating small ailments.

OTELP at a Glance

CCD has taken up Orissa Tribal Empowerment and Livelihood Program in collaboration with ITDA,supported by DFID,IFAD,WFP AND Govt of Orissa,implementing10 Watersheds in 35 tribal villages, treating 5000 hectors of land, water conservation and livelihood promotion activities covering 1786 households with 9462 population in Gumma Block,This programme is basically to empower the tribal community,.

9 Community Halls and 1 Safe drinking water provisions was constructed under the Entry Point Activity with the support of Rs.50,000/- each and with the community contribution

Capacity Building trainings were organized on NRM,SHG,PRI,HEALTH,AGRICULTURE, and plantation, to the VDC,SHG members, PRI members, Anganwadis,Village Volunteers,User groups and to the village sub Committeees and PWDs.CCD has also organized 10 Animal Health Camps,for vaccination and treatment.

.Watershed Committees has taken up directly 10 Check Dams,4 farm ponds,3 irrigation and fishery tanks,10 gravity flow water supplys,10 NTFP godowns, and 10 nurseries. 10000 numbers of sapplings procured from Horticulture and forest departments for 10 nurseries raised at 10 watersheds.

 
Primary Education

Programmes

1. The basic and minimum education facilities provided to 999 poor ST students opening 28 EGS centers (17 in Nuagada Block & 11 in Rayagada Block of Gajapati) under the Sarva Sikshya Abhijaan (SSA) of the OPEPA, BBSR, State Government of Orissa.

2. To provide minimum basic education to dropout and non-schooling children in 38 tribalvillages of Tarangada Gram Panchayat of Gumma Block and Partada Gram Panchayat of Kasinagar Block imparting message for streamlining the education system opening 33 centres for bridge schools with the support of CEF / Action Aid.

3. 76 girl children were enrolled into the government school and 2 disable to merge them into themain stream of the society.

4. 555 sponsorship children were enrolled into the local schools, Ashram Schools and Govt. High Schools to avail minimum basic education facilities,

 
Women Empowerment

Programmes :

1.465 SHGs were promoted consisting of 6324 members with a total savings of Rs. 51,38,449/- and with a revolving amount of Rs. 67,75,501/- for diffenent trades. 187 groups were linked with RGB and SBI loan amount of Rs. 81,48,500/- was supported under different income generating activities for the economic reconstruction of the women.

2. Emergence of leadership of the tribal women in the three tier PRI-system was an unprecedented event. Due to the advent of the capacity building trainings today, 75% of the tribal women are coming forward to participate and validate their representation in the Panchayet System revealing their problem through petitions, memorandums and representations .

3. An amount of Rs. 13,285/- has been saved by the staff and community as the gender fund to provide equitable social justice to the poor and deserted women in times of need.

4. 33 federation meetings were organized with the total participation of 729 members, out of which 415 were women from the different operational villages. The focus was given on the role-transformation of the women at different levels validating their rights and responsibilities.

5. 739 women SHG meetings were held for 3051 SHG members basically on the concept on SHG, thrift and credit management with prodigal use of money, the social and women related issues and their rights concern, inducing the knowledge on various social development sectors, social security schemes, better child and mother health concept and the linkages with the ICDS and Health Department in diversifying the resources for the holistic development of the women community.

6. The International Women Day was organized on 8th Mar'06 at Veterinary Conference hall, Paralakhemundi with the participation of 113 member including Women PRI members, SHG members, Health personnel and Government personnel from different corner of the operational villages to celebrate the occasion. Role of women in Panchayat Raj, Reservation in portfolio, gender equity and decision making in development plan were the main discussion.

7. 9 Gender Analysis exercise were conducted during the year with the participation of 127 male and 158 female and the concept on gender equity, social participation and decision making were infused in the minds of the participants.
